award-winning writer

Writers write. Everyone else makes excuses.

  -- Jack Bickham

Ultimately you have to choose your writing over something else. It has to become a priority. Only the writer can decide what you are going to carve out of your life in order to fit this in.

  -- David Ebershoff

I've been writing since I was old enough to know which end of the pencil made the words appear.

When I was 15, I won first place in an essay contest.

At 17, I shared second place for news writing in the University of Tucson's Journalism Day contest.

Later that year I made my first sale, a poem titled "Equivocations."  The magazine folded before the poem was published, but the $5.00 check cleared!

My nonfiction work has appeared in a number of publications, including Phoenix Magazine, American Girl, Scouting Magazine, The Pet Dealer, The Arizona Horseman, Outdoor Arizona, and Novel Writer Magazine.

My interest in genealogy resulted in publication in Lifelines, the Journal of the Northern New York American-Canadian Genealogical Society.

My poem "Baby" was published in Adirondack Journal.
