• LifeJournal – Personal journaling software that you can customize and password-protect. Has a specialized version for writers.

• Link Commander – A great bookmark manager.

• Search Automator Pro – A time-saving “must-have” for serious online research. Includes specialized search engines.

• Skype – Voice, video and conference calling over the Internet.

• Trillian – My favorite instant messenger program.

• TurboNote+ – My favorite desktop “sticky note” program.

• WordWeb – Handy dictionary and thesaurus that lets you look up words in almost any program.

• Character Pro – Character development program that uses the Enneagram personality-typing system. I use it along with Alice Orr’s “Writing Characters from the Inside Out” exercise to create dynamic characters.

• WriteWay – Organizational software to take you from story concept to completed manuscript. Designed for writers by a writer’s DH.

• Write Again! – A management program that keeps track of writing projects, deadlines, submissions, and market contacts.
